'Potential Human Trafficking': Northern Westchester Business Busted For Unauthorized Practice
Two people were arrested after an investigation revealed that they were running an unauthorized "massage parlor" in Northern Westchester, police said. The arrests were made on Saturday, Jan. 21, after an investigation into the unauthorized practice located in Yorktown at 1924 Commerce St. was commenced by Yorktown Police, the department said. Five Nabbed For Prostitution After Detail At Hotel In Hudson Valley
Five people have been arrested following a prostitution bust at a hotel in the region. All five suspects were apprehended in Dutchess County Wednesday, April 27, in the Town of Fishkill after local and state police targeted prostitution and other illegal activity at the Extended Stay America on West Merritt Boulevard, Fishkill Police said. In addition to the prostitution charges, some were also busted for criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said. Police did not release the names of those charged. Health officials are warning that victims of domestic abuse, including children and the elderly, may be at increased risk during self-quarantine related to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). Children are not in school, and families are being asked to either self-quarantine or remain at home to keep from catching the virus, said the Westchester County District Attorney's Office. Police are refuting rumors of human trafficking incidents at a popular area mall. There have been multiple postings on social media alleging that there was a human trafficking problem at the Danbury Fair Mall, Danbury Police Det. Lt. Mark Williams said. At least nine girls at a Westchester County residential treatment facility were trafficked or recruited to engage in prostitution, U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman announced. A Westchester resident is among four men facing charges for their roles in allegedly trafficking women for sex in multiple states.
