Fire Breaks Out At Home In Northern Westchester
A home was damaged by a gas grill fire in Northern Westchester. The blaze broke out around 7:51 p.m., Tuesday, May 11, on Hayes Drive in Yorktown Heights. When firefighters arrived on the scene they found a grill on fire next to a structure, the Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department said. A neighbor who is an off-duty firefighter was able to knock down the main body of fire utilizing a dry chemical fire extinguisher and pull the grill away from the structure prior to the fire department's arrival. Three Firefighters Injured After Battling Blaze At Westchester Home
Three firefighters were injured battling a blaze in a Westchester home filled with clutter and junk. The fire took place around 3:56 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 23, at a single-family home located on the 100 block of Scott Avenue in Yonkers, said Deputy Chief Joseph Citrone. The fire started from an electrical outlet that sparked and ignited a mattress, Citrone said. Residents Rescued After Apartment Fire Breaks Out In Westchester, Injuring Three Cops
Three police officers suffered injuries as they helped rescue residents when a fire broke out in a Westchester apartment building. New Rochelle Police Officer Timothy Childs was on patrol shortly after 9 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20 on Pelham Road when he saw smoke coming from a six-unit Franklin Avenue apartment building, prompting him to leap into action. CVS Pharmacy has just reopened a Westchester location that was ravaged by a fire in December of 2018. The fire started at Excelsior Cleaners in Larchmont on Dec. 20 of 2018, spreading to the CVS, Shop & Shop and other small stores adjoining it in the Ferndale Plaza on Boston Post Road. CVS is setting up a mobile pharmacy in Larchmont after a fire tore through the Ferndale Shopping Center, damaging the store late last year. A two-alarm fire broke out at Excelsior Cleaners on Boston Post Road in Larchmont at approximately 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19.
