A woman was arrested after police said she stole clothes worth more than $600 from a Fairfield County store. Officers responded to a report of shoplifting at Togs, a store located at 66 Elm Street in New Canaan, at about 1:30 p.m. on June 30, authorities said. The stolen items were worth a total of $626, according to the New Canaan Police Department. A group of suspects is on the loose after allegedly breaking into a Fairfield County jewelry store and stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise, police said. A 76-year-old man was arrested for allegedly attempting to steal two pairs of eyeglasses from a Fairfield County store. Elpidio Rojas, of the Bronx, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 27, in New Canaan after police responded to the Eyes on Elm store at 146 Elm St., for a report of attempted larceny. A delivery driver was arrested after employees at an area liquor store called police, suspecting that he was intoxicated or in need of medical attention when the driver brought his shipment. Police are eyeing gang members as suspects after two Jeeps were stolen in New Canaan. New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski said the department received complaints on Sunday, May 5, that a 2017 Jeep Wrangler was stolen from the driveway of a residence on Barnegat Road, and that a 2016 Jeep Cherokee was stolen from the driveway of a residence on upper Elm Street.
