A busy bridge that stretches over the Merritt Parkway in the area will be closed for several months as contractors continue efforts to rehabilitate the aging structure. Beginning on Friday, June 21, crews will kick off a project to replace the structural steel members and concrete deck of Lake Avenue Bridge over the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich, the Connecticut Department of Transportation announced. Several changes have been made to the speed limits on a total of nine roads in Ridgefield, according to the Ridgefield Police Department. A single-vehicle, rollover crash on I-84 has resulted in serious injuries for two individuals involved, authorities say. The crash occurred late in the evening on Monday, Jan. 28 in Danbury. Danbury Fire Dispatch received a number of calls reporting an overturned vehicle on I-84 eastbound prior to Exit 3, according to James Gagliardo of the Danbury FD. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced his support Wednesday for highway tolls and a gradual increase in the gasoline tax to pay for road projects, according to multiple reports. Malloy says Connecticut's crumbling and overcrowded roads are costing the state jobs, and he says it's time to bring tolls back after three decades.
