NY State Workers Steal Debit Card Info From Disabled Residents, Police Say
Three New York State employees are accused of stealing money from developmentally disabled residents in the Capital Region.
The women, all employees at the Capital District Developmental Disabilities Services Office (DDSO) in Clifton Park, were arrested on suspicion of fraud and larceny-related charges following an investigation by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, Jan. 26.
Officials identified the defendants as:
Lashea Pettway, 30, of Schenectady
Jessie Gabriel, 34, of Schenectady
Christin McGrath, 45, of Selkirk

Update:
An AMBER Alert issued after an upstate New York boy went missing has been canceled.
Gustavo Oliveira, 9, who has last been seen on Tallow Wood Drive in Clifton Park at around 1 a.m. Friday, May 8, has been located and is safe, state police announced late Friday night.
The suspect, Nivaldo P. Oliveira, 41, was taken into custody.

Hundreds of firefighters turned out wearing masks and dress uniforms to pay tribute to a beloved Westchester deputy fire chief following his death from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) as he was transported from White Plains Hospital to an area funeral home.
Deputy Chief Edward Ciocca, 62, a White Plains native, died Friday, May 1, due to complications from COVID-19, said the White Plains Professional Fire Fighters.
Ciocca, a third-generation firefighter, worked for the department for 35 years, rising through the ranks to become deputy chief in 1999.
