Man Driving Under Influence Crashes Into Utility Pole, New Canaan Police Say A 35-year-old man driving under the influence of alcohol crashed into a utility pole, according to police. It happened around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 24 in New Canaan. That's when police responded to the scene of the crash at Cherry Street and Park Street. Investigating officers detected the driver, Moises Aguilar-Matamoros, of New Canaan, showed signs of impairment and conducted standardized field and sobriety tests, police said. Three Thieves Targeting New Canaan Ralph Lauren Store Take Cops On Chase, Hit Cruiser A trio of professional rip-off thieves who have allegedly been targeting the Ralph Lauren store in New Canaan got away after a high-speed chase and driving into a police vehicle.  The incident took place around 3:20 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 13, while a New Canaan officer was working a security assignment at the store located at 51 Elm St., said New Canaan Lt. Jason Ferraro.
