Flowers Are Being Stolen From Graves At Cemetery In Hudson Valley, Police Say
Authorities are investigating numerous reports of flowers being stolen from a cemetery in the Hudson Valley. In Ulster County, Town of Lloyd Police said there have been over a half dozen reports of flowers being stolen from graves at Highland Cemetery, located on Vineyard Avenue. “Lloyd Police has been in contact with the Highland Cemetery Association and the families to let them know the police department will do everything possible to find those responsible for these deplorable acts and hold them accountable,” the department said in a statement. A Hudson Valley man could face jail time for allegedly defacing a cemetery headstone and building with hate symbols. The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Fantinekill Cemetery, located on State Route 209 in Wawarsing, just after 5 p.m. Monday, July 25. Human Bones Found On Top Of Gravesites At Historic Stamford Cemetery
Bones found on top of gravesites at a historic cemetery in Stamford are most likely human, Stamford Police said. Detectives don't suspect foul play, but they do suspect a groundhog or woodchuck is the culprit, said Capt. Richard Conklin. The bones and teeth were found by a passerby who happened to notice the remains on top of several gravesites, Conklin said.
