An allegedly drunk driver was tracked down by police in Fairfield County after being involved in a motor vehicle crash at a grocery store parking lot before attempting to flee, New Canaan Police investigators said.

Officers from the New Canaan Police Department were dispatched to the parking lot of Acme on Elm Street shortly before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, where there was a report of a multi-vehicle crash in the parking lot involving a potentially intoxicated driver who left the scene.

Police said that officers were able to ascertain license plate information, which found that it was registered to an Oenoke Lane resident.

According to police, upon arrival at the residence, they found the driver, New Canaan resident Jessica Pascale, 44, exiting the vehicle - which had damage consistent with the reported crash in the Acme parking lot.

While speaking with Pascale, officers said they detected signs of impairment, and she proceeded to fail multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. She was subsequently taken into custody and taken to New Canaan Police Headquarters, where she was found with a blood alcohol content of .124 via breathalyzer.

Pascale was arrested and charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, operation of an unregistered motor vehicle, failure to renew a driver’s license and evading responsibility for a crash that involves property damage.

Following her processing, Pascale was released on $500 bail and is scheduled to appear back in court on Monday, Dec. 9 to respond to the charges.
