A two-vehicle head-on crash trapped the driver of one vehicle in Northern Westchester.

The crash took place around 8:17 a.m., Friday, Feb. 14, at the intersection of Mahopac Avenue and Route 35 in Somers, said the Somers Volunteer Fire Department.

The first units on the scene found the trapped driver, and with a crew of five using the Jaws of Life to remove the side of the vehicle, the driver was removed within eight minutes, the department said.

The driver and two other patients were transported to a local hospital by Somers EMS ambulances for treatment, the department said.

Somers Fire units continued to operate until approximately 9 a.m., while the vehicles and debris were removed from the roadway.

The condition of the injured person was not revealed.
