“I love this event because I love meeting the people who are looking to get involved in our community,” said Lewisboro Library Program Director Liz Gabriele.
Gabriele said now is the time of year many organizations tend to run thin.
“Several agencies lose volunteers in the winter because many of their participants are older and aren't around town right now,” she said. “So we’re hoping people here today are looking to get involved right away.”
For those who were unable to make it out Saturday, don’t fret. The following agencies are still hoping to hear from you:
Guiding Eyes for the Blind has several opportunities available, including stud fosters, puppy raisers, home socialization, kennel volunteers, drivers and student services.
“We have off-site and on-site positions of need,” said Guiding Eyes volunteer Nina Kellogg, who brought two of the agency’s dogs to the fair. “It’s tremendous, fostering a member of the breeding community.”

Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps is looking for all the help it can get and has both riding and non-riding positions. All training necessary for different positions is provided at no cost.
“Having the capacity to respond to someone in crisis and provide comfort is a wonderful service,” said EMT Lynda Crowley. “There’s definitely a need for it in Lewisboro and filling that need is very rewarding.”

John Jay senior and Relay for Life co-chair Gigi Antonelle was looking for all different kinds of help for the Katonah-Lewisboro Relay For Life, scheduled for 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. June 21-22 at John Jay High School.
“You can help out with whatever you have an interest in,” she said. “It’s just a great event that really brings the community together and has an effect on everyone.”

Lewisboro Land Trust, Garden Club and Golden Roads are all preparing to get outside this spring and beautify the community in different ways. Lewisboro Girl Scouts are seeking leaders, administrators and anyone who has a specialty or expertise they would be willing to teach to girls. Those interested can call Lisa Wickersham at 914-232-1999 or email her at lisawickersham@ymail.com.
Lewisboro Historian Maureen Koehl came out to the fair to gauge interest a return from the Lewisboro Historical Society, which has been inactive for 30 years.
“We are one of the few towns in the area that doesn’t have a historical society anymore,” she said. “I thought now would be as good a time as any to see if there’s now an interest.”
