Harrison Football Aims To Remain Undefeated

HARRISON, N.Y. -- The Harrison varsity football team took a huge step last week toward establishing itself as the team to beat for the Section 1 Class A title.

The Huskies improved to 3-0 with a 31-8 win versus previously undefeated Sleepy Hollow. The Headless Horsemen entered the Harrison game fresh off a shutout of Rye.

Harrison begins its Rockland-County two-game stretch Friday as it travels to Tappan Zee for a 7 p.m. game. On Oct. 8, Harrison will host Pearl River.

The Dutchemen will face a Harrison offense that has produced 96 points through three games. In Harrison’s last six quarters, it has scored 58 points, including 28 in the second half of the thrilling come-back victory against John Jay-Cross River.

Harrison’s offense, which has always been predicated on the run, is even more dangerous now that quarterback Vinnie Nicita is throwing the ball. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder will keep opposing defenses honest with his strong right arm.
