Westchester Business Center Now at Manhattanville

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Westchester Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is now located at Manhattanville College.

A press release by the college said the SBDC produces an annual economic impact of $3 million to $4 million every year adding that it plays a leading role for small business expertise in Westchester County.

"The strong academic environment, diversity and central Westchester location of Manhattanville College made our choice for a home very easy," said Louis Scamardella, who has been with the SBDC for more than 10 years.

Scarmardella said the SBDC's involvement with the School of Graduate and Professional Studies, which recently opened what is said to be the only education and research center in the country, complements the Westchester business community, the press release said.  The school recently hosted Laurence Gottlieb, director of economic development for Westchester County who spoke about challenges young people coming out of college face when looking for a job in the county.

"I am delighted that we have joined forces with the SBDC in helping to restart the economy by building on the natural synergies between the educational programs we offer and the skills needed by entrepreneurs as they look to develop their own businesses," said Anthony Davidson, dean of the Manhattanville College School of Graduate and Professional Studies.

The press release said Manhattanville College plans to offer internship opportunities to students in the field of entrepreneurship in its future plans.
