Crews had to shore a compromised part of a Northern Westchester medical care building after a vehicle crashed through its wall. The crash happened on Thursday, Dec. 12 around 2:45 p.m., when a car crashed into the Optum Medical Care building at 342 Route 202 in Somers, according to the Somers Volunteer Fire Department. According to the department, arriving fire crews began shoring the building's compromised area while removing the driver from their car. A residence in Westchester suffered structural damage after a car jumped a curb and crashed into it, fire officials said. The incident happened on Friday, June 23 around 1 p.m., when firefighters from both the Port Chester and Rye Brook fire departments were sent to 43 Avon Circle in Rye Brook on a report of a car crashing into a building. A Westchester County girl was rescued from a 13-inch drainpipe after a passerby heard her shouting for help. The incident took place around 6:55 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 4, in Mamaroneck. A Village of Mamaroneck police officer conducting post-storm patrol was alerted by persons shouting for help at the corner of Old White Plains Road and Center Avenue. Two Croton Public Works employees were rescued by members from the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department after being stranded in the Croton River. The rescue took place a little after 9 a.m., Tuesday, April 30, when the department was notified of an overturned boat with two people in the water near the Croton River's Silver Lake Park, said the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department. After four hours of hard work, the Patterson Fire Department managed to save a horse that was stuck in the mud on the banks of the Wonder Lake State Park. The incident unfolded after two horseback riders were riding in the area about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, when one of the horses sank into about 2 feet of mud on the banks of a lake, said the Patterson Fire Department.
