Man Sentenced For Stealing Appliances With Fake Credit Card In Westchester
A Westchester man will avoid time behind bars after being busted using a fake credit card to illegally purchase appliances last year. Yonkers resident Rahul Masih has been sentenced after pleading guilty in October last year to attempted criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony. Last week, Masih was sentenced in Westchester County Court to five years probation after paying $2,580 in restitution to Atlantic Appliance in Yorktown, where he used the credit card. A second new walk-up novel coronavirus (COVID-19) testing facility is being set up in the city where the virus is now the hardest hit in Westchester. The New York State Department of Health arranged for a new testing facility in Yonkers at St. John’s Riverside Hospital ParkCare Pavilion on Park Avenue. It will open next week. A seemingly innocuous one-car crash into a Westchester building led to the discovery of a marijuana grow house, police said. Members of the Yonkers Police Department were dispatched to a two-family home on Shonnard Place shortly before 3 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, where there was a report of a driver who had struck the building. All hands were on deck on Tuesday as crews dealt with three fires that broke out in area homes, leaving a firefighter with a minor injury and several families displaced in the most recent blaze, which occurred in the evening. ID Released For Woman Who Died In Westchester Basement Apartment Fire
Police have released the name of the woman who died when a basement apartment broke out on Tuesday morning. First responders were dispatched to a Park Avenue residence at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, when a neighbor saw smoke coming from a basement apartment and called the fire department.
