Knollwood's Miller In Second At 97th Met Golf Tournament

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – Knollwood Country Club's Mike Miller and Sleepy Hollow Golf Club's Cameron Young shot matching 66s and were each one stroke behind the leader after Tuesday's first round of the 97th Met Open sponsored by MetLife at Plainfield Country Club.

Miller was 2-over par heading into his ninth hole of the day, but holed his 9-iron approach shot for a 2 on the 368-yard par four. The eagle propelled the 2011 Met Amateur champion into his back nine. Knollwood is located in Elmsford.

“I started off slow, didn’t really make anything or take advantage of the par 5s,” Miller said. “But I was 8-under-par on my last 10. My caddie just told me to keep making birdies.”

Young, 15, attends Fordham Prep and lives in Scarborough.
