On Tuesday, state police from Hawthorne said they stopped Yuyun Chen of Brooklyn while he was driving on the Sprain Brook Parkway when he failed to maintain his lane of travel.
According to police, during the subsequent traffic stop, troopers determined that Chen was operating his vehicle under the influence of drugs. Further investigation determined that Chen was in possession of ketamine, an anesthetic also misused as a "date rape" drug.
Chen was evaluated by a New York State Police Drug Recognition Expert, who confirmed that he was unable to safely operate a vehicle. He was arrested and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, both misdemeanors.
Police issued Chen an appearance ticket, and he is due back in the Town of Greenburgh Court on Thursday, March 23.
