Town Schedules Scoping Hearing For Lawrence Street Development

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Earlier this year, JPI/TDI Companies of Irvington submitted plans to the town of Greenburgh to develop property on Lawrence Street off the Saw Mill River Parkway. The proposed plan included a four story residential apartment building with a total of 272 apartments with 438 parking spaces, but has drawn criticism from some residents.

"We want to hear from resident," says Town Supervisor Paul Feiner. "Based on plans residents have expressed concerns about traffic, flooding, aesthetics, narrow-ness of Saw Mill River Road, impact to schools, lack of sidewalks and more." Feiner urged residents to make their voices know by attending January's scoping hearing.

According to Greenburgh policy, the Town Board is required to review the application; they have hired Ferrandino & Associates Inc. of Elmsford to assist in the review. The Town Board has declared that the Proposed Action may result in one or more significant adverse impacts.

"If approvals are eventually given or if there are compromises - what actions should we ask the developer to take to mitigate the concerns?" asks Feiner. "What do our residents recommend?"

A public hearing on the draft Scoping Document has been scheduled for Wednesday evening, Jan. 13, 2016 at the Greenburgh Town Hall at 7:30 p.m.
