Greenburgh Library Explores La Cultura Latina In July

GREENBURGH, N.Y. - The Greenburgh Library will host five events on a cultural journey of the Latin world Tuesdays in July beginning with Mariachi Sol Mixteco: Viva Mexico concert Tuesday.

Funded by Arts Westchester, NYS Council on the Arts and the Friends of the Greenburgh Library, the tour of La Cultura Latina includes stops from Mexico to Argentina and the Andes by way of music, dance and photos.  The opening event features the Navarro  Family and the Torres sisters presenting Mariachi music in a family concert beginning July 2 at 7 p.m.

The July events include: July 9: Guatemala in Words and Photographs - Librarian Diana Lennon takes you on a journey to Guatemala in words and pictures. July 16: Dance al Ritmo Latino - A dance demonstration by Carlos Doñán from Latin Dance XTreme - learn some new Salsa steps. July 23: Música de Argentina: Carmen Carrasco, Pedro Baez y Sergio Baez - Argentina and Spain will come alive as guitarists Pedro & Sergio Baez and Singer Carmen Carrasco present pieces from Pasodoble to Tango. July 30: Amerinti: Sol de América - Join musicians from Chile, Ecuador, and Peru to listen to the traditional music of the Andes.

There will be coffee, refreshments and surprises at each event in the library's Multipurpose Room. No registration needed. Call 721-8235 for more information.
