Former Town Supervisor In Area Dies A former supervisor of a Hudson Valley town who was a longtime mechanical designer for IBM has died. Louis Foscaldi, a resident of Highland, New York, and Vero Beach, Florida, died on Wednesday, July 20 at age 91, according to his obituary.  He was born in the Bronx and was a graduate of DeWitt Clinton High School. Foscaldi served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 through 1954, his obituary said.  He went on to study mechanical engineering and work at IBM as a mechanical designer until 1991. The United States Marine Corps shared in an announcement on Saturday, June 11, the identities of the marines who died when the MV-22B Osprey crashed on Wednesday, June 8 in the California desert. Fatal Stabbing Under Investigation In Dutchess Police in the Hudson Valley are investigating the death of a beloved veteran who was stabbed to death on Christmas Day. Dutchess County resident Rene ‘Scout’ Vivo, age 65, a longtime resident of Beacon, died on Saturday, Dec. 25 after being stabbed in Beacon. The City of Beacon Police, which did not return calls for information, said on Facebook that it is actively investigating the stabbing. NY State Police Donate Over 1,300 Toys To Dutchess Children For Christmas New York State Police in Troop K, with the help of local businesses and the United States Marine Corps, has amassed 1,329 toys for donation to the Dutchess County Toys for Tots chapter.  Between Wednesday, Nov. 25 and Friday, Dec. 18, members of the community dropped off new, unwrapped toys at Troop K headquarters in Salt Point for donation. Then, area members of the Marine Corps picked up the donated presents for distribution to children in the area.  All 18 police stations in Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess and Columbia counties participated in the Toys for Tots program.

Fdny Firefighter, Ex-Hudson Valley Resident Killed In Afghanistan A U.S. Marine killed in Afghanistan by a roadside bomb on Monday, April 8 was a New York City firefighter and a former Westchester resident. Christopher A. Slutman, 43, of Ladder Company 27 in the South Bronx, a 15-year veteran of the department, died as a result of injuries sustained while on active duty in Afghanistan, said New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. Slutman, who lived in Yonkers with his wife and three children for years, most recently lived in Wilmington, Delaware, and commuted to New York to work, according to News 4.
