A student at a Hudson Valley high school has been charged with felony possession of a weapon after a loaded gun was allegedly found in his belonging. The incident took place in Rockland County around 3 p.m., Monday, Jan. 30 at Nanuet High School, at 103 Church St., in Nanuet. Area HS Student Who Saved Grandpa's Life Recognized For Heroic Actions
A high school student is being recognized for his heroic actions after he saved his grandfather's life in the Hudson Valley. In Putnam County, Brewster High School sophomore Timothy Kolka was presented with a certificate by School Resource Officer Joseph Sadowski in front of his family and Brewster High School staffers, the school district announced. A social media post considered a threat toward a Northern Westchester high school that went viral online led to an extensive police presence and investigation in and outside the building. More than $1 billion in taxpayer spending on public schools is at stake on Tuesday, May 15 when local residents can vote on their school district budgets. Proposed 2018-19 school budgets, which range from Webutuck's $22.7 million to Wappingers' $231 million, would be financed by about $738 million in property taxes. Putnam Sheriff Calls School Resource Officers 'Instrumental'
In light of the deadly massacre in Parkland, Florida, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department has reviewed its school safety procedures and evaluated its preparedness in an effort to reassure the public and to make sure the department is ready to react to any situation.
