34 Cars Get Flat Tires Due To Large Piece Of Metal On I-84, Police Say Thirty-four drivers started the morning off on the wrong foot when they hit a large piece of metal in the roadway and got flat tires in return. The multiple flat tires were reported around 8 a.m., Monday, April 8,  while exiting westbound I-84 west onto the northbound Route 8 ramp in Waterbury, near Mixmaster, the Connecticut State Police said. DOT responded and removed the metal with a payloader, state police said. Police Chase Through Area Ends With Home Invasion A wild police chase that started in Newtown and continued through Bridgeport ended with a crash, a foot chase and a home invasion, according to Connecticut State Police. The incident began around 6:45 p.m. Monday when Troop A was notified by the Bridgeport and Newtown police departments that they were in pursuit of a 2014 white Honda Accord that was wanted for transporting firearms, state police said.
