A popular cafe and bakery in the area has become the latest victim of the COVID-19 pandemic and has shuttered its doors for good. The owners of Sweet Obsessions on Route 376 in Poughkeepsie announced that they were closing for good this week as of Tuesday, Aug. 11. “We knew that someday we would have to say goodbye, but we didn't think it would be this soon,” they posted on social media. “On behalf of our family at Sweet Obsessions, we would like to say thank you. Six Dutchess County Residents Charged With DWI In State Police Stops
New York State Police troopers busted nearly two dozen local motorists who were allegedly driving while impaired in the area over the past week. The local residents charged were: Dutchess County On Friday, Jan. 11, State Police troopers from Rhinebeck arrested Gerard V. Ollis, 43, of Poughkeepsie, for DWAI Drugs. He was traveling on Route 9 in Rhinebeck, when he was struck a mailbox and then left the scene. Bicyclist Seriously Injured After Being Hit By SUV On Route 376
A 47-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured after being hit by a compact SUV in the Town of Poughkeepsie. The crash took place around 8:08 p.m. Wednesday on Route 376 (New Hackensack Road) near Cedar Valley Road when a 46-year-old Poughkeepsie resident driving a 2012 Honda CR-V, struck the Poughkeepsie resident, said Town of Poughkeepsie Police Lt. Brian Wagner. The bicyclist sustained serious non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, Wagner said. The driver of the Honda was not injured in the crash. Traffic Alert Issued For Town Of Poughkeepsie
Motorists planning on traveling on Route 376 through Poughkeepsie can expect delays for several weeks as contracting crews continue construction work in the area. The New York State Department of Transportation issued an alert cautioning that construction activities are planned on a portion of Route 376 (Raymond Avenue) between College Avenue and Main Campus Drive - the main entrance to Vassar College - beginning on Wednesday, April 25, and continuing through Wednesday, May 9.
