Columbus Letter Comes Home To Fairfield's Pequot Library SOUTHPORT, Conn. - After 60 years, the Columbus Letter is returning to the Pequot Library following it's loan to Yale University. During a special viewing Saturday Dec. 5, the public will be able to take part in a unique viewing of the letter written in 1493 by Christopher Columbus. George Miles, from Yale University, will show the letter and speak about its importance. The viewing is a part of the "Pages from Pequot" Special Collections exhibition, Exploring America: Christopher Columbus. New Rochelle Police Department Gets New K-9 Thanks To Donation NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- A donation to the New Rochelle Police Foundation will help the department in getting a new dog for the department's K-9 unit.The Ramiro Lopez of Ramiro’s Tree Service donated $5,000 to the Foundation. The donation will be used for the new dog, to be named Diesel in honor of the French police dog killed in last Wednesday’s police raid.  Additionally, the New Rochelle Police Foundation will donate $2,000 to the French police for their canine unit.
