As of Monday, Aug. 1, McDonnell will vacate her position as principal to assume her new role, which was created when Carl Albano was announced as the district’s permanent superintendent.

McDonnell has been at the helm of the middle school since 2014, where she spearheaded the district’s Technology Committee. According to the Board, during her time in Tuckahoe, she initiated data analysis of state testing items to improve instruction, and tackled issues of access and equity by initiating an after school late bus system and providing scholarships so that all students can participate in class field trips.

Before taking over in Tuckahoe, McDonnell spent five years as an administrator in the Rye City School District. She has also served as an Assessment Specialist and Professional Development Consultant for Quester Assessments and Southern Westchester BOCES.

“Dr. McDonnell’s vast experience and knowledge in the field of education has been and will continue to be a true asset to Tuckahoe,” interim Superintendent of Schools Charles Wilson stated. “We are confident that she will embrace her new role with the enthusiasm and strategic approach that have enabled her success to date.”
