New Village Administrator David Burke joined Ecklond at The Fountains at Rivervue on Monday, Oct. 6, to issue a proclamation to four Tuckahoe centenarians that will celebrate their 100th year on this planet later this week at a villagewide birthday party.
Emily Viola, a lifelong seamstress who has been known to put on her dancing shoes during happy hour and Mary Finoia, a former New Haven and Yonkers resident who starred in the field of fashion will be among the honorees at the event.
Sal Sgroe, a longtime Westchester resident who worked for the Transit Authority for “many, many years,” will also be among those being celebrated, although it won’t be the first time his family has enjoyed a 100th birthday party; his father also reached the remarkable milestone.
“I’m living my life the way I did when I was younger, but just in an older body,” he joked. “I’m my own boss.”
The centenarians will be on hand to share their wisdom and swap stories at the birthday party from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, at The Fountains at RiverVue. One of the celebrants declined to be included in press coverage.
