Transformer Fire Closes Part Of Busy Roadway In Hudson Valley: Developing A blaze has caused part of a busy Hudson Valley route to close in both directions. In Putnam County, Route 312 in the town of Southeast is closed to traffic in both directions at the intersection with Interstate 84 late Monday morning, Sept. 25, according to reports.  The closure was caused by a transformer fire in the area. Home Catches Fire After Lightning Strike In Putnam A house struck by lightning in Putnam County during a thunderstorm on Wednesday was saved by firefighters with the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department. The storm, which occurred around 4:30 p.m., sent lighting flying into the side of a home on Old Stone House Road in Putnam Valley, the fire department said on Facebook.  Flames burned the side of the house, but firefighters were able to extinguish them within minutes, they added.
