25-Year-Old Found Dead At Area Shopping Plaza A 25-year-old man was found dead after police received a "man down" call at an area shopping plaza. The incident took place around 8:44 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, when 911 dispatchers received a call for a report of a man down on the ground at the Oakridge Plaza, at 960 Violet Ave., in Hyde Park, said Hyde Park Police Chief Robert Benson. When officers arrived on the scene they found the man unconscious and not breathing, Benson said. The man was lying in the corner of the parking lot and was dead, he added. Verplanck Man Arrested After Falsely Saying His Car Was Stolen, Police Say A Westchester man is in trouble with the law after allegedly claiming his car was stolen in Verplanck when it wasn’t. Members of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations announced the arrest of 24-year-old Verplanck resident Stephen Candelaria, who has been charged with falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor. Police said that shortly before 6:30 p.m. on July 17, Candelaria reported to state police that his 2009 Mazda RX8 was stolen from his home on 7th Street in Verplanck.
