Retired Police Officer Who Served In Peekskill For Decades Dies A police department in Northern Westchester is mourning the loss of a retired officer who served communities in the Hudson Valley for decades.  The Peekskill Police Department announced the death of retired officer John Lynch on Wednesday, Oct. 25 in a post on social media.  According to the department, Lynch served with both the Beacon and Peekskill Police Departments for almost 25 years between the 1960s and 1980s. Most of this time was spent in Peekskill, the department added.  After his retirement, Lynch moved to Arizona, where he had been at the time of his death. …

Suspects Who Stole Catalytic Converters From Garrison Train Station Caught, Police Say A duo who stole catalytic converters from a train station in the Hudson Valley have been caught, police said.  On Thursday afternoon, Dec. 15, police in Putnam County received two reports from people who had their catalytic converters stolen at the Garrison Train Station, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.  After an investigation, two suspects were identified and taken into custody by the Beacon Police Department, according to authorities.  The suspects, whose identities have not yet been released, are also responsible for thefts outside of Putnam County, polic…

Double OD Incident Ends With One Fatality In Area A double overdose ended with the death of one man in the area, police said. The incident took place around 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 8, on Hillside Road, said Beacon Police Det. Sgt. Jason Johnson. An unidentified woman was saved with a dose of Narcan, he said. Another unidentified man was not able to be saved, Johnson said. Additional details were not immediately available pending notification of next of kin.  This is a developing story. Man, Woman Charged In Connection With Home Burglary A man and woman have been arrested and charged in connection with a home burglary in the area. Troopers responded to Bower Road in the town of Pleasant Valley for a report of a burglary on Tuesday, Jan. 29.  An investigation found 21-year-old Christian Rivera of Wappinger illegally entered a residence and stole multiple items including an LG television, Xbox console, Amazon Fire tablet, a watch, and a gold necklace, state police said. 23-Year-Old Suspect Quickly Caught After Beacon Purse Snatching Incident Beacon Police quickly arrested a 23-year-old local man after he snatched a woman's purse, according to the Beacon Police Department. Bobby Jones III, of Beacon, was arrested around 10 p.m. Sunday after police responded to Liberty Street for a purse snatching incident, said Det. Sgt. Jason Johnson. Once on scene, the victim was able to describe the male suspect and responding officers located a Jones who matched the description a short time later.  A show-up was conducted and the victim positively identified Jones, Johnson said.
