Streaking Croton Tigers Race Past Briarcliff

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Down by three points at halftime, the Croton boys’ basketball team used a balanced scoring attack Thursday to outscore Briarcliff by 12 in the second  half in a 75-66 victory over the Bears.

The Tigers (10-2), who won their fifth straight game since losing to Pleasantville at the buzzer 10 days ago, were led by Ian Thom with 20 points, followed closely by Aaron Thompson with 17, Wes Turner with 16 and Rob Simmons with 14 points.

“It was another great team effort,” Tigers coach Bill Thom said. “I am very proud of the heart we played with tonight.”

Thom scored eight points to ignite Croton’s 12-5 run early in the third quarter. Simmons led the way with 12 rebounds and Thompson and Turner each handed out six assists for Croton.

Tyriek Johnson led Briarcliff with 22 points and Brian Daniels added 14.
