Lakeland Inducts 4 Alum Into Athletic Hall of Fame

SHRUB OAK, N.Y.-- Four Lakeland High School alumni, ranging in graduation years from 1985 to 2005, were inducted into the school’s athletic Hall of Fame at homecoming festivities Sunday.

Danielle Fiore, class of 2004, is currently finishing studies at Mercy College and played both field hockey and softball in school. She is currently the head field hockey coach in Briarcliff.

Michael Meadows, class of 2005, is currently a physical education teacher in the New York City School System, and is the assistant coach for the Lakeland varsity football team, and assistant coach for the Lakeland/Panas/Putnam Valley varsity boys swim team. In high school, he was known for his achievements in football.

John Scialdone, class of 1988, was also remembered for his football career. Scialdone, who currently works as the managing director of legend trading in Manhattan, still holds records in Lakeland athletics.

Joel Shapiro, class of 1985, was installed into the Hall of Fame for his outstanding baseball career. Shapiro was a member of the Lakeland baseball team when they were ranked number one in the county.
