As a 2015 YoungArts Winner in the music division for clarinet, Solomon joined several other Westchester high school students in the program who are also 2015 YoungArts Winners. Those students, along with almost 100 other YoungArts Winners from the Northeast, attended interdisciplinary workshops and intensive master classes with renowned artists including actor Neil Patrick Harris, dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov, author Joan Morgan, painter Jose Parla, violinist Christian Hebel and director Jay Scheib.
Solomon is in his senior year at Hendrick Hudson High School and his third year at The Juilliard School Pre-College Division, where he studies clarinet with Laura Flax. He most recently performed with The New York Youth Symphony at Carnegie Hall. In the summer of 2014, Solomon was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of the United States, operated by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute. The orchestra’s summer tour featured violinist Gil Shaham and conductor David Robertson, and performed at leading concert halls and music festivals across the country including Tanglewood’s Ozawa Hall, Carnegie Hall and Los Angeles’ Walt Disney Concert Hall.
As part of his summer music studies, Solomon has attended The Interlochen Arts School in Michigan and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute in Massachusetts.
