CORTLANDT, N.Y. – Two Peekskill women attempted Friday to steal $83.22 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart in the Cortlandt Town Center, state police said.

Police arrested and charged Joyce S. Bass, 21, and Elaina M. Male, 18, both of Peekskill, with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

The two women were caught by the store’s loss prevention leaving Wal-Mart at approximately 6:45 p.m. with an air mattress and cosmetic products without paying for them, New York State Police Sgt. Robert Young said.
