Cortlandt Man Faces Felony Charge for Picking up Pot Package

YORKTOWN, N.Y.-- A Cortlandt Manor man faces felony charges after he allegedly picked up a package from UPS containing over two pounds of marijuana.

Police responded to UPS on Front St. on September 29 after a report of a suspicious package. Police investigation revealed the package contained over two pounds of marijuana. While at the scene, the male, Mervin R. Bernard, 33, of 14 Pops Rd., allegedly arrived at UPS to pick the package, and was arrested for criminal possession of marijuana.

He was remanded to Westchester County Jail after he was unable to post $7,000 bail and is due to appear in Yorktown Court on October 4 at 6 p.m.

- A 72-year-old Yorktown resident , Giuseppe DiFroscia, was charged with assault in the third degree, a misdemeanor, for allegedly assaulting a family member. He is currently awaiting arraignment.
