Live Theater Comes to Croton

Live theater will come to Croton this weekend as a series of five one-act plays are presented by the Croton Academy of Arts, home of the Croton Academy of Comedic Arts.

The event will, entitled “Shorts,” will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It’s the academy’s “first foray into theater,” according to Myrlin Valero, the director of “Shorts” and co-director of the CACA with Catherine Riedel.

Until now the academy has presented mostly skits. This theatrical presentation represents two and a half months of work by students from Croton, Cortlandt and Port Chester.

The plays were written by David Ives and Christopher Durang, contemporary American playwrights. The performance will take place in the Budarz Theatre in the Ossining Public Library.
