WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - The man who drowned late Friday afternoon while swimming in the Croton River has been identified.

Jorge Tenesaca, 18, was among a group of six teenagers who were swimming in the river at the time of the incident at approximately 4 p.m. His residence has not yet been released.

The incident was reported below Truesdale Drive near the Mayo's Landing swimming area in Croton-on-Hudson. According to reports, a witness said that the teen went into the body of water and never resurfaced. The area is popular for swimming as well as fishing not only among local residents but for out-of-area residents.

Local police, paramedics and a Marine Unit responded to the river. The Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department utilized its Marine 32 from Echo Canoe Launch with members searching both the water and shore. The Yorktown Heights Fire Department joined the search.

The body was recovered about an hour into the search.
