Cortlandt Manor Resident Has Lucky Day

CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y.—The New York Lottery today announced the name of a Cortlandt Manor Powerball player who won $10,000 on June 22. The winner, Anthony Reina, bought the winning ticket at the Hess station on Route 202 in Cortlandt Manor.

The Daily Cortlandt was unable to contact Reina, but he's not the only one getting lucky at this Hess station. Don Fernandez has won around $9,000 this year. "I hit three times this year," said Fernandez, "so I'm a couple thousand up." The Cortlandt Manor resident visits this station for convenience, but plays the numbers on his heart, "kid's birthdays, father's birthday," said Fernandez.

Ten-year employee of the Hess station, Pawan Kanaojiya, doesn't play while he's working, but he has seen at least one person win $20,000.

Any prizes of $601 to $999,999 may be claimed at one of the lottery’s seven stand-alone customer service offices, and prizes above that amount must be claimed there. The closest offices are in Fishkill and Manhattan, with the closest gaming office at Yonkers Raceway.

Other recent lottery winners in Cortlandt Manor include Scott McGee, who won $250,000 in March, after he purchased a ticket from Beach Wine and Liquors when his haircut was delayed. According to the New York State Lottery’s website, McGee said, “I stopped for a haircut but the barber was too busy so I ran over to Beach Wines & Liquors for a Lottery ticket. I scanned the ticket and could not believe it.”
