Hudson Valley Hospital Nurse, McNamara Dies at 70

CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. - Catherine A. "Kay" McNamara, a clinical nurse manager at Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt, died suddenly on Nov. 19. She was 70.

Born Jul. 2, 1941, she was the daughter to the late John J. and Catherine A. Devine of Yonkers. After raising a family, she studied to become a nurse. McNamara, most recently of Yorktown, became a licensed practical nurse through Cochran School of Nursing and a received a bachelor's in nursing from Mercy College. 

Passionate about her new career, she began working at St. John's Riverside Hospital and then at Dobbs Ferry Hospital before coming to Hudson Valley Hospital.

She is survived by her sons William (Arnette) McNamara of Cary, N.C. and Brian McNamara of Yorktown, her daughter Lori A. McNamara-Steeves with her husband Stephen Myer of Yorktown, her brother John J. Devine of Yonkers, her sister Ann (Larry) Butler of Yonkers and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband William H. McNamara of Yonkers in 1991.

Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home in Yorktown Heights. The funeral mass is Wednesday at 10 a.m., at Old St. Patrick's Stone Church in Yorktown Heights, followed by interment at Amawalk Hill Cemetery.
