Croton Mayor Reschedules Halloween to Saturday

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Village of Croton will host a goblin walk, starting at Five Corners in Croton, on Saturday at noon. The Halloween parade was scheduled after Croton village officials cancelled Halloween, because of hazardous conditions after the freak snowstorm of October 29.

Mayor Leo Wiegman announced the “goblin walk” during Croton’s water forum, held to discuss the addition of zinc orthophosphate to the village water supply. Wiegman joked that he was, “the mayor who cancelled Halloween.”

Wiegman said that despite officially encouraging parents not to bring their children trick or treating on Monday evening, the village had many first responders on standby in case of any accidents resulting from residents who did decide to trick or treat. The village remained very quiet on Monday evening, according to the mayor’s reports.

The mayor is encouraging residents to trick or treat on Saturday evening, after the goblin walk, and to re-carve any pumpkins which rotted during the cold weather. There will be a comic juggler, Will Shaw, present at the “goblin walk.”
