Climate Action Forum Tonight In Cortlandt

PEEKSKILL, NY - The city is among seven area municipalities - funded by ARRA stimulus dollars - to catalog energy expenses and inventory greenhouse gas emissions and develop climate action plans,

That plan will be the subject of a two-hour public work shop, "Climate Action Planning Forum," tonight from 4-6 p.m. at Cortlandt Town Hall.

This session will be lead by the consultants hired for the benefit of the public and volunteers in Peekskill, Cortlandt and Croton. It will focus on how the communities can turn the recommendations from the recently completed greenhouse gas inventories into results.

The purpose of this meeting is to begin the climate action planning process for each municipality, based on the inventories. After Jan. 1 the consultants will be done and the municipalities will take over the process. The event is open to the general public.

Organizers from the Northern Westchester Energy Action Consortium (NWEAC) hope the process will benefit greatly from collaboration among the staff and volunteer committees in our three communities on areas of common impact such as energy efficiency in municipal facilities and street lighting.

The meeting will be open to "walk-ups," but pre-registration is preferred.

To register for the event, go to: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/2555758342 and visit the NWEAC site, www.renewnweac.org, for more info.
