A Hudson Valley man who was wanted on alleged child sex charges fled from police, drove his vehicle into a river, and then hid from officers.

The incident took place in Orange County around 9:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24 in Goshen.
According to Trooper Steven Nevel of the New York State Police, state police attempted to execute a search warrant at the home of Orange County resident Craig Merlock, age 45, of Goshen, who was not at home.

Trio Nabbed For Home Burglaries In Region, Police Say
Three men were apprehended by police in the Hudson Valley shortly after allegedly committing home burglaries.
The incident occurred in Orange County around 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 2, on Continental Drive in New Windsor.
The men were identified as Queens residents Jamez Torres Tinoco, age 41; Diego Hernandez-Corba, age 29, and Julian Cortes Cacamelo, age 23, after the homeowner called police to say he spotted the men on his home surveillance cameras attempting to enter his home, said Chief Daniel Valeri, of the New Windsor Police.

Fire Department Lieutenant In Region Admits To Being Major Drug Trafficker
A former Hudson Valley fire lieutenant has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to operating as a major drug trafficker.
Orange County resident Paul Smith, age 52, of Deerpark, was sentenced to 10 to 25 years on Wednesday, Nov. 16, said Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.
Smith, a paid lieutenant with the city of Middletown Fire Department at the time of his arrest, was also sentenced to five years post-release supervision, the DA's Office said.

Six Residents From Region Accused Of Scamming $250,000 From Businesses
Six Hudson Valley residents have been indicted by a grand jury in a wide-ranging fraud scheme that costs area businesses more than $250,000.
The fraud scheme targeted businesses in Orange County including in Newburgh and Middletown and ran from March 2021 through April, said the Orange County District Attorney's Office
Those arrested included:
Turgaud Dubuisson, age 29 of Newburgh
Anthony Dubuisson, age 25, of Newburgh
Robert Geter, age 46, of Newburgh
Marlon Tabora, age 25, of Newburgh
Daniel DeLeon, age 32, of Newburgh
