Athens Town Bookkeeper Tried Giving Himself Raise: Police A town employee in the region is facing charges after allegedly attempting to give himself an unauthorized pay raise. Columbia County resident Donald Pierro, age 70, of Hillsdale, was arrested Friday, March 22, on suspicion of attempted grand larceny and related charges. Greene County Sheriff’s officials said a Town of Athens employee contacted the agency on Monday, March 18, reporting a possible theft by Pierro, the bookkeeper to Town Supervisor Michael Pirrone. Hillsdale Man Accused Of Burglarizing Connecticut Home A 33-year-old New York man is accused of burglarizing a Connecticut home.  Police responded to a report of a burglary in the Litchfield County town of Norfolk at about 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, according to Connecticut State Police.  At the scene, troopers found a hammer and crowbar used to pry open a kitchen window, and the homeowner said he had security footage of the suspect entering an unsecured entryway toward the area where the tools were found, police said.  Police said the suspect fled the scene before troopers arrived.  Authorities later were able to ide…
