Update: Fierce Fire Ravages $3M Tenafly Home 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: A fierce fire blew through a $3 million Tenafly home Friday night. Everyone got out OK and no injuries were reported after the fire ignited on the first floor near the back of the Hudson Avenue home off County Road shortly before 8:30 p.m. June 14. It quickly went to three alarms and then, later, a fourth for coverage. Firefighters had the bulk of the blaze knocked down within a half hour, then remained until 11 p.m. or so dousing hot spots. Long-Serving Firefighter, Teacher From Hudson Valley Dies A firefighter and teacher from Northern Westchester who served his department for more than 50 years has died.  Somers resident Fred Whipple, who served the Somers Volunteer Fire Department for 58 years, died on Sunday, March 19, the department announced.  Since joining the department in 1965, Whipple became known by many for his great personality and he eventually became the "true senior man" at the firehouse, lending his knowledge and experience to many younger members, according to the fire department. Firefighter Hit By Car At Scene Of Vehicle Rollover In Region: 'Please Slow Down' A firefighter was injured after they were struck by a car while responding to a vehicle rollover in the Hudson Valley.  The incident happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, March 15, when firefighters and Carmel Volunteer Ambulance Corps members responded to a vehicle rollover in Carmel on Stoneleigh Avenue near Putnam Hospital, firefighters announced on Saturday, March 18. According to the Carmel Fire Department, first responders found that the driver had escaped from the rolled-over car themselves.
