New details are shedding light on the lengths that accused Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann went to in hopes of getting away with his alleged murder spree. The 60-year-old Long Island resident, of Massapequa Park, was arraigned on two more charges of second-degree murder in Suffolk County Court on Thursday, June 6, in the killings of Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costilla. FedEx Sued After Former Driver In Region Raped, Assaulted Teens
One of the victims of a former delivery driver in the region who was convicted of sexually assaulting three teens while on the job is now suing FedEx and the local parcel service for negligence. The lawsuit, which was filed on Monday, May 6, alleges that FedEx and the Dutchess County Parcel Service were negligent in the rape of a teen girl by Poughkeepsie resident Joshua J. Ginyard. Two years after a young father was gunned down on his 21st birthday in the region, the man who pulled the trigger is facing decades in prison. Anthony Romero, age 25, was sentenced to 37 years to life in prison in Schenectady County Court on Wednesday, May 1, after a jury convicted him of murdering Treavine Tate. Man From Region Charged With Drug Sales, Possession of Gun
A Hudson Valley man was charged with selling crack in the region following an early morning raid by a drug task force. Dutchess County resident Jaylen Shaw, age 22, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, was arrested on Thursday, April 18, following the raid by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force. Over a decade behind bars awaits a man from the region who confessed to sexually abusing a young girl. Schenectady resident Juan Garcia-Pleitez, age 41, was sentenced to 15 years in prison in Schenectady County Court on Wednesday, March 13. It followed his guilty plea to one count of criminal sexual act, a felony, in January. Millions of New Yorkers will soon have their criminal convictions sealed under new legislation meant to better help them find jobs and housing. Gov. Kathy Hochul signed the “Clean Slate Act” into law during a ceremony in Brooklyn on Thursday, Nov. 16. A violent sex offender with a history of targeting vulnerable adults has been arrested in the region after allegedly assaulting a man with autism. In Albany County, Watervliet Police arrested 64-year-old Jamal Ali, of Watervliet, on multiple sex crimes following an alleged incident that occurred on Thursday, Aug. 4. With time ticking before a trial began, a 46-year-old man admitted to sexually abusing a child throughout the Hudson Valley on multiple occasions over the course of several years.
