A senior at a Northern Westchester high school has been nominated for one of the nation's highest honors for students. Daniel Ndocaj, a senior at Byram Hills High School in Armonk, has been selected as a candidate for the US Presidential Scholars Program, the Byram Hills Central School District announced on Tuesday, Jan. 30. Jan. 6 Attack: Graduate Of HS In Region Gets Prison Time For Role In Riot
A Northern Westchester high school product has been sentenced for his role in the January 6 attack on the US Capitol. Brian Gundersen, age 28, who graduated from Byram Hills High School in Armonk and played varsity football during his time there, was sentenced to 18 months in prison on Tuesday, July 25 for his role in the breach of the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, according to the US Department of Justice. Popular Teacher In Region Dies At Age 52
A popular Northern Westchester third-grade teacher, Josephine “Josie” Calvaruso, has died at the age of 52. Calvaruso attended school in the Bronx and graduated from Fordham University with her bachelor’s in philosophy, her obituary said. Soon after, she received her master’s from Fordham in teaching. She was a teacher for 28 years, working first in the Bronx before later moving to work in Armonk at the Wampus Elementary School in the Byram Hills Central School District.
