New Supermarket To Open In Region A new 24-hour-a-day supermarket is opening in the Hudson Valley, focusing on everything fresh.  The Garden Fresh Market, located in Rockland County in Spring Valley, will have its soft opening on Wednesday, Oct. 23, and its grand opening on Saturday, Oct. 26, said owner Wilson Bermeo of New City.  This will be the fourth supermarket for Bermeo, who immigrated from Ecuador in 1995 to live the American Dream. Prisoner Charged With Violating Protective Order While Behind Bars In Region A man behind bars in the region has been charged again for allegedly violating a protective order. The incident occurred in Dutchess County on Friday, Oct. 19, at the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center in Poughkeepsie. According to Dutchess County Sheriff's Office Capt. John Watterson, Brandon Mima, age 21, of Beacon, is accused of violating an order of protection by contacting a protected party via telephone and video.  Watterson said he was charged with an aggravated family offense and two counts of criminal contempt. Car Engulfed In Flames On Taconic Parkway A vehicle fire prompted an early morning response on the Taconic State Parkway. The blaze happened on Saturday, Oct. 19 around 8:30 a.m. in Northern Westchester, when an SUV caught on fire on the southbound side in Hawthorne. Arriving fire crews soon found the vehicle consumed by flames and quickly hosed it down, putting the blaze out completely.  The response took around an hour and sent plumes of smoke up into the air on the parkway, as seen in images of the fire released on the Hawthorne Fire Department's social media page.  No injuries were reported.

The incident occurred in Dutchess County on Thursday, Oct. 17, at the school on N. Park Drive. According To New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks, an investigation determined the threats were not credible, but a search of the building was conducted out of an abundance of caution.   No evidence of any safety threat was found. Edmund Zielinski, age 55, is 6-foot-4, 220 pounds with gray/dirty blond hair, according to New York State Police, who note that he has a scar on his throat from vertebrae surgery.
