Body Of Teen Swimmer From Rockland Found In Hudson River
The body of a missing teenage swimmer has been located in the Hudson River, state police announced late Monday afternoon, June 6. At approximately 6 a.m. Monday, troopers were notified about the missing 19-year-old near Haverstraw Beach State Park in Rockland County. New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team along with local fire departments searched the water. Two Dead After Four Boaters Pulled From Long Island Sound
A second man has died after four boaters were pulled from the cold waters of the Long Island Sound on Easter morning. "We are saddened to report one additional fatality from this morning’s water rescue on the Long Island Sound," the Stamford Fire Department announced Sunday afternoon, April 17. Two others remain in critical, but stable condition. Massive Dead Whale Found On Long Island Shore
A massive whale was found washed up on a Long Island shore over the weekend. Members of the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society responded to Amagansett late on Saturday, May 30, where there was a report of a 35-foot female humpback whale on the beach. The whale was originally reported just offshore of Amagansett by the United States Coast Guard and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Saturday night after it was seen in the surf at approximately 8 p.m., officials said. Search For Man Missing In Hudson River To Be Suspended
The search for a man who went missing Tuesday afternoon in the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie will be suspended Sunday evening, Lt. Shawn A. Castano of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office announced. The 49-year-old man has been identified as Paul Machettia of the City of Poughkeepsie. Macchettia entered the water to help after one of five people who entered the Hudson River began to struggle to stay afloat.
