Area Man, 19, Faces Cyber Harassment Charge
In a series of attacks that Ridgewood police said were unrelated, three village residents in roughly 24 hours reported being cyber-harassed, leading in one instance to the arrest of an Orange County man. Jacob Goodman, 19, was arrested after he hacked into a 19-year-old woman’s social media account and “posted photos of her and illicit photos of other people,” Ridgewood Police Chief Jaqueline Luthcke said Monday. Rockland Gangsters' Associate Gets 65 Months In 'Cabjacking,' Bar Holdups
A fellow member of a gang from Rockland was sentenced Wednesday to 65 months in federal prison for his role in carjacking, kidnapping and leaving a local cab driver for dead in Orange County after he and four others robbed a North Jersey bar. Wilbur J. Barahona, 22, of Ridgewood was the last of six defendants to accept a plea deal from federal prosecutors in Newark in connection with the separate crimes, which occurred within hours of one another. Rockland Gang Member's Accomplice Gets 3 Years In Cabbie Carjacking
The confessed accomplice of a Rockland gang member was sent to federal prison for three years Wednesday for smashing a carjacked cab driver in the head with a beer bottle before others dumped the victim on the side of the New York State Thruway in Orange County. Arlyn Jowany Carrasco Cruz, 28, will have to serve just about all of the sentence because there is no parole in the federal prison system.
