Man Had Pot, 'Suspicious' $140K In Cash Inside Jeep In Bergen, Police Say Hackensack police officers seized more than $137,000 in cash and marijuana from a Philadelphia man during a motor vehicle stop, authorities said. On Friday, July 13, members of the Hackensack Police Narcotics Division pulled over Jose Diaz-Velez, 38, on Hudson Street, Captain Peter Busciglio said. The officers found marijuana and cash suspiciously packaged inside of his white Jeep Liberty, the captain said.  Diaz-Velez was charged him with one count of transporting or possessing property and possession of marijuana, and transported to the Bergen County Jail, Busciglio said.

Hackensack Middle Schooler Brings BB Guns To School HACKENSACK, N.J. -- A Hackensack Middle School student who brought two BB guns in with him on Monday was detained by police and then sent home, authorities said. A source with knowledge of the situation said it was the second time it had recently happened at the Union Street school, which has roughly 1,500 students in grades 5-8. The situation was handled without incident, Acting Schools Supt. Update: Female Body Pulled From Hackensack River Authorities recovered a female body from the Hackensack River on Sunday, local police said. UPDATE: Body Pulled From River ID'd As Missing Woman, 26 First responders arrived just after 10 a.m. following a report of an unidentified body in the water behind the Shops at Riverside, authorities said. The body was recovered at 12:20 p.m., Hackensack Lt. Darrin Dewitt told Daily Voice. Responders including the Hackensack police and fire departments, Oradell Fire Department, Bergenfield Fire Department and the Bergen County Sheriff's Office worked for more than two hours to recover the body.
