The unnamed man was arrested about 9 p.m. Wednesday during a traffic stop on Route 45 in Hillcrest, police said.

The driver and his passenger, ages 23 and 25 and both from Nanuet, were searched and found to be in possession of Roxicodone, a highly addictive opioid, police said.

They were both charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.

While police were processing the two defendants back at the station house, it was discovered that one of them had hidden drugs in a “body cavity.”

He was taken to the hospital to be treated for any possible medical repercussions, police said.

Ramapo police handled a total of 137 calls on Wednesday, including 11 alarm activations, nine medical emergencies, one fire, and five arrests on charges including unlawful possession of marijuana, suspended operation, and criminal possession of controlled substances.

Police also responded to eight motor vehicle accidents at the following locations: Ronald Drive, Second Street and Acer Court in Monsey; Route 45 and Zuba Lane in Hillcrest; Route 59 in Airmont; Route 306 in Wesley Hills; and Sutin Place in Chestnut Ridge.

One accident involved an injury, and one was a hit-and-run, police said.
