Police: Man Stopped For Traffic Infraction In West Nyack Was Driving Drunk

CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. --  A New Windsor man was charged in West Nyack with driving drunk after being stopped for a traffic infraction on Saturday, according to the Clarkstown Police Department.

Edwin Zarzuela, 45, was stopped about 5:20 a.m. on Route 303, said Clarkstown Officer Peter Walker.

During the stop, Zarzuela appeared to be intoxicated and was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters, where he failed a breath test, Walker said.

 Zarzuela, who had a prior DWI conviction, was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operator, aggravated DWI, and driving on the shoulder, Walker added.

He is being held at the Rockland County Jail on $5,000 bail. Zarzuela is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
